To answer this question, we first need a little history review. Satan didn't start out bad. God created Lucifer (Ezekiel 28:13, 15), a beautiful, shining angel who was a leader in heaven (Ezekiel 28:14; Psalms 99:1). One day, Lucifer began to think more highly of himself than he should (Ezekiel 28:17), and he began to question God's authority in his life. What began as thoughts in his own mind turned into public murmuring among the other angels. This murmuring became louder and louder, until ultimately, the Bible tells us Lucifer wanted to remove God from the His heavenly throne and sit there himself (Isaiah 14:13, 14). He fomented a rebellion that drew one-third of the angels to his side and caused a war in heaven (Rev. 12:7-9)! Because of this, Lucifer and his angels were cast out of heaven. His name became "Satan." He found his way to the earth where he corrupted God's perfect garden creation and the two human beings who dwelt there. It has been misery for earthlings ever since. It's reasonable then to wonder why God didn't destroy Lucifer and his angels instead of just casting them out of heaven. One wonders why God didn't just destroy Lucifer right at the beginning, when he started murmuring. Wouldn't the destruction of Satan have prevented all the suffering in the world today? Lucifer started this controversy by attacking God's character. He asked aloud, "Is God's way the best way? Does God deserve to be God? Does God deserve our love?" All of heaven began watching this controversy intently, waiting for the answers. What if God had “answered” Lucifer's questions by destroying him? Being destroyed for asking questions doesn't seem fair. Can you imagine what the other angels would be thinking? At least some of them would have wondered if Lucifer was right. They might have come to the conclusion, "Don't question God, or He'll destroy you!" Now, instead of worshiping God out of love for Him, they would worship Him out of fear. Many angels would be left with doubts about God's character. Yes, God could have destroyed Satan, but that would have left behind doubt and fear. God is love. The only loving way to quell this uprising was to let it complete its course so the answer would be obvious to all. The best way to answer Satan's questions was not to destroy Satan, but for God to demonstrate why His way is the best way, why He deserves to be God, and why He deserves the love of His creation. What do you think is better: To serve some one out of love or fear? Why? Do you agree with God that He didn't destroy Lucifer immediatly? Why or why not? By CK Lester

Why would god come down to earth so that he could die and forgive everyones sins? When god is the Judge and if he wanted to he would just forgive. It does not correlate with the idea that this life is a test. Greetings Jusaf, I respectfully disagree with you about the bible not being as it was. In an extend I could go here with you on this because there has been changes in the bible and there has been translational errors. But there is enough evidence that the bible what we have right now is the inspired Word of God. To touch upon your remarks I will begin with the first one. You spoke about the reasons why God would come down to earth and die and forgive everyones sins? While if He is Jugde he would just forgive. You wrote that it does not correlate with the idea that this life is a test. Well if we think very simply when we kill a person, it is logical that we have to come before a court and face a jugde. If it where so that the judge by distance would say I forgive you this would really water down the system if you understand what I mean. The judge is there not only to judge you but to jugde rightfully in each case. Now let me go into the situation of God. In the great rebellion of Satan and his angels the Judge God Himself, was accused by someone who was next to Him that reflected His love light life and law. Gods reputation Gods name is now on trial. The reason why God became man and died for everyones sins is because 1 God loved the world so much 2 God came to show mankind the way to heaven 3 The death of Jesus secured the whole universe faith because it is at this point that all the worlds could see the gravity and consequence of sin . It is sin that casts the God of life from His throne, it is sin that results in self-destruction, it is sin that brings God shame and kills Him. Sin is lawlessness and if God is just as His law then it means Sin means living without God. Since it is God’s name that is on trial He would have to come and sacrifice and show who He is and to what extent He will go to show to all His love His law is the best way for life everywhere. Thus His death secured the faith of the whole universe. To reply to your second part. You said we Muslims are more Christians then most Christians. This is a very bold statement. And I have to remind you two things. 1 You cannot say this with conviction not knowing what all Moslims do. In the Christian faith and yes even in the moslim faith there are those that misbehave and do things that is not pleasing to Allah. I have met moslims that are not devoted that live in lifestyles that I can´t address here. This is not to paint the moslim faith in a wrong matter but the matter of fact is in every religion there are those that are living their faith as it should be. Regardless of faith humans are in this way all in the same situation. So please be careful that you say that so boldly. I do agree with you that there are Christians that do eat pork, go to war, drink alcohol but there are also moslims that do this. We as Seventh day Adventist hold true to our biblical believes and it is not our aim to do these things. Thirdly, you asked why in the bible there is only the first name used of people. Well this has a reason. But the bible is not a documentation of an exhaustive information book on everyones life. I could as well ask you the same with figures in the Koran. The power does not hide in names but at the stories on how God dealt with humanity and came to reveal His character and work with mankind for the purpose of saving them. Fourthly, You wrote that you do not understand that God took 7 literal days to create this world. God is not bound to time. But in the order for His creation to function here on earth He made time. We may experience this as 7 days but to God it is nothing. God does not have watches on His hand like we do! He could do in 1 day He could do it in 6 or even 10 days. It could be that even if He did it 3 or in 1 day we as people would still ask why He thus did so? For Him it is as a blink of a moment! To us it is 7 days. Remember we are made in time. God is not bound to time. You reply that there are many mistakes in the bible. I do not know what you mean. If you refer to the stories there is enough evidence these are supported. If you refer to translational errors this might be so in some bibles more then others. But again I have studied the Koran as well and I have discovered many many mistakes and even assumptions on Christianity Mohammed shared that is not at all so. So again I could say the same. You speak about informing you about Christianity and that if one could clear this up to you , you would convert to Christianity. Well either your just misinformed about Christianity or you are not settled in Islam or you are still open for information. I will have to make it clear to you that with all the knowledge and wisdom one could give you about Christianity it is not one its task to convert you or convince you. This is only the work of God. If you want wisdom ask God to reveal to you His character. The book that reflects Gods character better would then be your manual to guide you to heaven. You can contact me on my skype account. As a Muslim we believe in the bible as it used to be, not how it is now. I am not hear to cause hatred but just rather inform. I will put foreward things which dont make sense in the Bible. 1. Why would god come down to earth so that he could die and forgive everyones sins? When god is the Judge and if he wanted to he would just forgive. It does not correlate with the idea that this life is a test. 2. Perhaps we Muslims are more Christians than most Christians. I say that because we do not drink alcohol, do not eat swine, and are not allowed to cause discomfort to anyone (especially through war, fighting, or murder), yet the West do all these things. 3. I also would like to know as all these holy scriptures christians have, why is it they only have a first name, for example John, Luke, Mark, ETC. Do they have any sirnames? And what do we know about them? 4. I do not understand the logic in the 7 day theory that God had created the world in. Of course God is the most Powerfulest, the most passionate and merciful, why would it take God 7 days. I mean he could do it all within a blink of an eye. I can see many mistakes in the bible. But if this was the book of God there their could not be a single mistake. I would like people to contact me regardless of whether they want to know more about Islam, or whether they want to explain validity in the Bible. Or any misconceptions about the Qur'an. Please don't take it out of your time to contact me just to curse as I will just ignore the comments. If anyone could prove to me that Christianity is better than Islam than I would be happily ready to convert. Thank you for your time. Much appreciated.

Greetings Jason, we as Seventh Day Adventist do not teach that. There are others who assume and make out of bible verses that angels crossed with humans and giants came. We do not teach that. Angels cannot have sex like humans. They dont have a sexual front & back parts like humans. The reason why the enemy is jealous as well on the human race is because they can multiply he cannot! Thank God can you imagine the whole universe with devils. We do not believe Spirit can have children with humans. This just a myth.

Question: If the devil and his angels are in spirit form, how did they come to earth in physical form(s) and mate with earth women to bring forth giants. In which God decided to flood the world and kill off all beings besides Noah's family line? So if this is true, angels must be 2-4x bigger then man alone to creat a hybird that are giants.

Greetings David, I am not here to argue you or to disprove your answers nor to convince you cause I can´t and I don´t even want to try. I believe you have allready the answers you seek and your reasoning you are free to use and hold to. But I wonder even why you are on such websites? If you are allready questioning Gods ways and decisions that means you are wiser then God and there is basically nothing that can convince or compell your thoughts. Why even bother with this website? Why even bothering talking to Christians'?

ok so god didnt destroy satan out of love but foretold of his eternity in the lake of fire. wouldnt it be more humane to just destroy him? also you speak of love. were is the love of man being condemned to hell, when according to the bible man understands nothing & is always deceived by satan yet gets punished for it. please dont hit me with the same old free will card ok. i dont see any free will to choose when mankind is being constantly tempted & deceived by the power of darkness thats way beyond mans understanding. God should have killed satan & if the angels were going to say anything god could have just shown them the death & suffering satan would have caused on earth & the spiritual realm. hes good at prophecising as far as i have read in the bible. ur answer is in vain & holds no truth at all. God bless or maybe not (who knows)

@Joel - : Theres a difference between a spiritual death and a mortal death. We are spirit and flesh, angels are spirit. When mortals die our spirits do not. As angels are spirit beings (not of the flesh that can die) seperation from the creator to them is like dying a mortal death e.g. they lose all of their senses for that realm and become seperate, which is everything they have known, they now dwell detached from the one being that made them angels. For example, when our flesh dies it returns to the earth, but its senses are forever seperated from the world. God is an Angels world, so when he forcibly removes them from that, they wouldve suffered a kind of death.

OK, so, I understand that serving God out of love rather than fear is a good thing. Yet, God destroyed many people throughout the old testament for their rebellion, or disobeying. Sodom and Gomorrah, the population of the earth prior to the flood minus Noah and his family, and others that incurred God's wrath. So, if God was wiling to punish by death in these cases, why then would he allow satan to live after such a blatant and blasphemous disregard for his Lordship? God established himself as a jealous God, at times an angry God, and a God of wrath in other instances. So, isn't it logical then that He would be in character in His willingness to eliminate one so bold? We are taught to know the fear of the Lord. To love Him, and to realize He is consistent at all times. This is an honest plea for an educated response. Not an invitation for random opinion. I don't want to know your feelings. This is a quest for truth.

Greetings P.Richard.J , Everything you say about lucifer or God in some extent your knowlegde comes from the bible. In the little lucifer said he would want to achieve we allready can know what his plans would be! In the story of Adam and Eve we see what he wanted to share! In the context of this whole worlds experience we see what the end result is of rebellion. Are you having sympathy for the one that rebelled in Gods presence? Are you more attached to the idea of living withouth law then to abide in Gods law? Be careful bro. I have thougt about these thoughts as well thats why i ask you be careful cause those thoughts will bring you to paths and conclusions where to a road it will go darker and darker. add me on fb kevin fiqueroa

God is fair? Y'all have to convince me that he is because even though i am a christian i think he ain't. He gave angels and men free will, knowing too well that now these created beings have the ability to reason and sooner or later they will question his existence and alas that's exactly what Lucifer the most intelligent of all beings dared to do. In return the loving God made an example out of Lucifer. Did Lucifer ever deserve that? Is that what a fair God would do? I mean he's all knowing ain't he? He should have known the risk of imparting his created beings with free will. In my opinion, God has no control over this power called free will. So there you go, the real reason as to why Lucifer rebelled is because of God's self-ego, unfairness, that is the most genuine reason (hidden from the bible) for such an elite being as Lucifer to give up his life to fight an all-powerful God, that is a good enough reason to have convinced a third of the angels to follow Lucifer. I think if God is loving and fair, he's redemption plan would have also include Lucifer and his angels instead God feared that if he ever let Lucifer back into heaven, this time Lucifer will convince not only the angels but mankind too and that's why God desperately wanted to fry Lucifer's brains together with his followers for ever. If only God had allowed Lucifer to tell his side of the story in the bible we would not be discussing this right now, God never said anything more than a few stabbing chapters directed at Lucifer in the bible. Is that fairness? After all we are all sons and daughters of God, why would he be so unfair to make an example out of one of his beings and destroy them if they use what he himself gave them, the power to make their own choices?

First of all, God has definately created Lucifer for a reason. Maybe it is supposed to be the challenge to humans. Maybe it was meant to creat balance to the world. Maybe through the believers' fear of Lucifer they become more elated by even the tiniest kind act of the Lord, and their faith will continue to grow as they believe that God will protect them from evil, if they follow his will. All in all, it is said that Lucifer can only harm the sinful ones, and that also is a good reason for bad people to try to turn to God. God has his way, always.

Thursday, November 10, 2011 8:45 PM
I believe it is because God is love and he loves all his creations to include Lucifer as well. Despite his rebellion he was still one of his Angels and I think that eventho he had to cast him out, he still loves him as he loves everyone and through us he is showing Lucifer that he is wrong to question Him.

Whoa, Jes! Just to comfort you: You Are wrong! But your heart has to tell you that for you to know it, and that's how it is with the whole Satan question. God's letting it play out until Everyone sees it clearly, and don't worry, They Will! Here's some stuff about Satan that may interest you: (starting here; you may want to take in the whole script) http://www.preparingforeternity.com/gc/gc29.htm Here's what you're wrong about: 1) How much God loves you. But it's way more than any of us can understand, so, just we'll just keep enjoying it as much as possible, eh? 2) How much power you have. "Left mankind to fend for itself"? Not hardly! That's what your Bible sword is here for! That's what the "good angels," outnumbering Satan's 2 to 1, are here for. That's what Jesus' death on the cross is there for, to let everybody know that He Will Stop At Nothing to defend you! All we have to do is Ask! Maybe you'll want to take a look at this, about asking: http://www.preparingforeternity.com/hd/hd11.htm 3) The "theater of grace," i.e. "The other angels know... and would understand..." What the angels can see very clearly is that you and I are a thorn in the side of the whole happy universe. The unclear part to them is whether or not we're redeemable and whether or not Satan is really foolish enough to fight to the finish. Jesus' death on the cross was a pretty clear revelation to them http://www.preparingforeternity.com/da/da79.htm that Satan is serious, but as for us, that still needs to be shown. Greatest adventure opportunity ever. Ever. (Go! Fight! Win!) http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians%206:10-19&version=KJV http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%208:38-39&version=KJV http://www.biblegateway.com/keyword/?search=spared+not+his+own+son&searchtype=phrase&version1=9&bookset=5

The reason why God did not destroy Lucifer is because of several reasons. 1. The Lord created each being with a free will and to allow this to happen was the evidence that this was possible. So to show Lucifer had free will. 2.He did not destroy Lucifer for lucifer had allready planted in the mind of other beings doubt about Gods character and law. This would only be the fuel. So you could say Lucifer secured His existence and rebellion by doing deceiving works. 3. God did not destroy Lucifer because He had to let this rebellion continue to show its ultimate fruit. (results) This would be a lesson for all beings in the universe. 4. God did not destroy Lucifer cause other beings would then worship Him out of fear! rather then Love. 5. God did not destroy Lucifer cause accusations against God demands clarfication and right rebuke. The courts of heaven balances the accusations with the reality. As every court proces this woud take time. 6. Had God destroyed Lucifer He would cease to be God. God is Love and Love Risks Love VENTURES Love demands the other to be respected and to be treated fair despite actions. 7. By not destroying Lucifer God showed Love again. Sin cannot exist in the presence of God, so God had to shield Lucifer from not being consumed on the spot! By allowing Lucifer to continue His actions God showed Love. I hope these answers help bit! God bless

My understanding, and please if anyone sees where I'm skewed please let me know - my understanding is that God created a perfect world. He then created man in his own image which would have also been perfect. We know though the books that God sent the floods to wipe out mankind and the world of it's sinful lifestyle. Noah wasn't by far perfect in his life and still carried sin within him. Knowing that God knew the day was going to come that he would flood the earth, why not just destroy evil in the beginning in order to prevent Him from flooding the earth. If destroying Satan would have meant killing man, he could have finished evil then and started mankind over again. God can do anything He wants. If he truly loved man so much, why would he allow Satan to be a part of our lives (when He could have removed it) and make our lives miserable? The thought about the angels following God out of love or fear being challenged - God's decision is final. God has given, and God has taken away. Satan as well as the angels are created beings were below God. He gave them life and had the power to take it back. the angles would have known that God's way is the best way, what ever He chooses to do.

Well, refering to why the Lord didn't destroy satan immediately, would be because our Lord Jehovah is pure love, he love satan, the bible even says that satan was one of the most beloved angels in heaven. Yet once satan started to be very proud of himself that he longed to be as the Lord and there was his worst sin, greed for power and he also showed many other sins among them there could be GREED, for wanting t be more powerful than the Lord, ENVY for envying God's power among others. We can't be totally sure about this that maybe Satan will return to heaven, but I am preety sure that something really awesome will happen in the end of times yet the bible already talks about that period of time but nobody knows yet as for me I will concentrate in my salvation because I am already a son of God and I won't let evil to take away this privilage God bless you Pastor Batchelor.

God should have destroyed lucifer right away. Why? God was aware of the evil lucifer would bring to man and that his influence would corrupt and destroy God's creation. The other angels know that lucifer is evil and would understand if God destroyed him because all they would have to do is look at our world and the destruction that evil has caused. God has left mankind to fend for itself against an evil supernatural being. How is that fair? God has destroyed some evil human beings, but he continues to let lucifer live. Why? I don't understand God's plan, but I still love him. But I am beginning to think that God does not love us as much as we thought. Maybe we are not as important to God as we think. I hope I am wrong.

I Love this article. It makes sense. It tells you its point simple and yet with so much detail. God is smart. Before acting im sure he not only things of the good but also the bad. He made a choice. God died for us , so even though we have to deal with sin every minute of the day, with God by our side we can do anything. And in a short while we will join him in Heaven. <3

The Bible does not appear to be "women" friendly or supportive in many instances. Why? Examples - When angels came to Lot and the people wanted him to send them out to know them, he offered up his daughters instead. In Revelation, referencing the 144,000, it speaks of their being virgins, not defiled by women. While I understand that the Bible is full of symbolism, it is my feeling that women are treated "less than" in this world most likely influenced by the manner in which they are treated by example in the Bible. There are many other examples however, these are sufficient for you to get my meaning. Women are treated like second class citizens in the Bible. Yes, there are exceptions, a few. Mary, honored above all women.
